A naming ceremony or promise party is a beautiful, non-religious way to welcome a new child into the world, your family, or community. Whether you’re celebrating the birth of a baby, the adoption of a child, blending families, or honouring a new name or identity, this ceremony is all about love, connection, and belonging.
As your celebrant, I’ll work with you to create a personalised and heartfelt ceremony that reflects your values and the hopes you have for your child or loved one’s future.

What is a Naming Ceremony?
Unlike a traditional christening or religious service, a naming ceremony is entirely personal and secular. It can take place anywhere - at home, in a garden, at a park, or a hired venue or wherever you want! - and can include:
The announcement of the chosen name(s) and their meanings.
Personal promises and/or commitments from parent s, guardians or carers
Special roles for guideparents, mentors, or supporting adults.
Readings, poems, or symbolic elements like candle lighting, tree planting, or a sand ceremony.
Acknowledgement of siblings, grandparents, or other loved ones.

A promise party is a flexible and inclusive alternative name for a naming ceremony - perfect for older children, adopted children, blended families, or gender-affirming celebrations. It’s a chance to gather loved ones, share meaningful promises and celebrate identity, love, and unity in your own way.

I will send your your finalised ceremony before the day, but I am flexible and changes can be made (even on the day!).
On the day I'll lead your ceremony with warmth, confidence and professionalism - ensuring everything runs smoothly and feels relaxed and heartfelt.
